firm overview

Shiotani & Inouye ("S&I") is a small, general business law firm that focuses on providing high quality legal services to a clientele of individuals, partners and closely-held businesses engaged in diverse industries. We offer both general and specific legal services that meet our clients' needs in the areas of business formation; individual and business tax planning; business succession planning; real estate transactions involving acquisitions, sales and leasing; estate planning; probate; mergers & acquisitions; and general commercial transactions.

While we are a small law firm, we have outstanding working relationships with other attorneys and firms that permit us to offer our clients the range and depth of a larger firm while maintaining the efficiency and personalized service that they expect from a small boutique.

S&I prides itself on long-standing client relationships: we ensure that we get to know our clients, their interests, and their goals. And our clients know that we are committed to meeting their legal needs. Indeed, many of our business clients rely on S&I as outside general counsel, reflecting their confidence in our firm's ability to provide counsel that directly responds to their particular legal needs.

S&I's commitment to personal, long-term client relationships reflects the philosophy of its founder, Barney B. Shiotani. Mr. Shiotani began his solo practice in 1980, and many of his clients remain with S&I today.

Mr. Shiotani was joined by Lawrence Inouye in 1981. In 1986, Messrs. Shiotani and Inouye established their partnership, S&I. While Mr. Shiotani has ceased his full time involvement with S&I, the firm continues the tradition of providing personalized, high-quality legal services today.
